Hide notification previews on the Lock Screen

Why it matters

Previews can show the text of messages and emails or details of calendar invitations. Anyone holding your locked iPhone can read them.

If you leave it

Message content stays readable on the Lock Screen.

Where to find it

  • Settings
  • Notifications
  • Show Previews
    Choose: “When Unlocked”

    Open Settings and tap Notifications.
  • 2.
    Tap Show Previews.
  • 3.
    Choose When Unlocked or Never. You can also set this for each app below Notification Style.
